PPPWU Leadership: Israel Castro Takes Office as International President
On January 2, 2026, the Printing Packaging & Production Union of North America (PPPWU) proudly welcomed Israel Castro as International President. His swearing-in marks an important moment for PPPWU leadership and reaffirms the union’s ongoing commitment to working people.
In accordance with the PPPWU Constitution, President Castro succeeded Steve Nobles, who retired in December after two years as the union’s top officer. During his tenure, President Nobles helped guide the union through a period of change. As a result, the PPPWU extends its sincere thanks for his leadership and service.
A Personal Commitment to PPPWU Leadership
For President Castro, this role carries deep personal meaning. His experience within the labor movement shaped both his values and his vision for the union.
“This is very personal for me; I want to continue growing the union and give other people the same opportunity that was given me to advance their careers and livelihoods,” President Castro said.
Moreover, he emphasized the broader purpose behind union advocacy. “If it wasn’t for labor unions and pushing back, we’d be nowhere. It’s about giving other people an opportunity to make their lives better. We have a moral obligation to do this.”
Together, these words reflect the heart of President Castro’s approach to PPPWU leadership. He views the union not only as a workplace advocate, but also as a pathway to stability, dignity, and opportunity.
Experience That Strengthens the Union
Throughout his service to the PPPWU, President Castro has consistently demonstrated hard work and resilience. He has also shown a deep commitment to listening to members and responding to their concerns. Consequently, his leadership has played a meaningful role in strengthening the union’s foundation.
Additionally, President Castro brings a clear focus on collaboration and transparency. He believes strong PPPWU leadership depends on engaged members and shared responsibility. Therefore, developing future leaders remains a central priority of his presidency.
The Future of PPPWU Leadership
Today, the labor movement faces evolving challenges across industries. Meanwhile, workers continue to demand fairness, respect, and a voice on the job. Strong and principled PPPWU leadership remains essential during this time.
Under President Castro’s leadership, the union will continue to grow, organize, and advocate. His hard work, resilience, and commitment will continue to lead our journey forward. Ultimately, his vision centers on expanding opportunity and improving the lives of members and their families.
Please join us in congratulating Israel Castro as International President of the PPPWU. With unity and purpose, PPPWU leadership moves forward—stronger and more determined than ever.
Congratulations, President Castro!
